Write for Us
Roll a D6 welcomes pitches for original, practical articles about dice. Here is what we look for and how the review process works.
Topics we accept
- Dice probability explained simply: averages, totals, odds and common misconceptions.
- How dice are used in board games and tabletop roleplaying games.
- Classroom activities and lesson ideas that use dice to teach probability.
- Making tabletop games more accessible, including for players who cannot use physical dice.
- The history and design of dice and randomizers.
We do not accept articles about gambling, betting, casinos or lotteries, or pieces whose main purpose is to promote a product, service or website.
Quality standards
- Useful: the article answers a real question a reader has, and answers it early.
- Accurate: every number can be checked, with the calculation shown or a reliable source named.
- Clear: written in plain American English for a general audience, with short paragraphs.
- Experienced: drawn from real play, teaching or study. Tell us what you have done that makes you the right person to write it.
Originality
Submissions must be your own, unpublished work, written for Roll a D6. We do not accept copied, spun, rewritten or previously published content, or text generated by AI tools and presented as your own. Quotes must be short and credited.
Editorial review
Every pitch is reviewed. If it is a good fit, we may ask for a draft. Drafts are fact-checked and edited for accuracy, clarity, length and style, and we may ask for changes. We aim to share the edited version with you before it goes live.
Submitting a pitch or draft does not guarantee publication. We may decline any submission, and we may update or remove published articles later, for example to correct an error.
Links and commercial submissions
We do not sell links or publish articles in exchange for payment, and we do not promise any link, link attribute or placement. Any link in a published article is included only if an editor judges it useful to readers, and may be marked as nofollow, sponsored or user-generated content.
If you are writing on behalf of a company, or you have any commercial relationship with a product or site you mention, you must tell us when you pitch. Undisclosed commercial relationships will lead to the submission being rejected, or the article being removed.
What we will not accept
- Spam, mass pitches or submissions unrelated to dice.
- Copied or plagiarized content.
- Misleading claims, such as “systems” for beating random results.
- Hidden links, keyword stuffing or undisclosed promotion.
How to submit
Email your pitch to contact@rollad6.co with “Write for Us” in the subject line. Please include:
- a proposed title and a short outline, in a few sentences or bullet points;
- why the topic matters to readers of Roll a D6;
- a sentence or two about your experience with the topic;
- any commercial relationship you need to disclose.
Please send a pitch rather than a finished article. If we do not reply, the pitch was not a fit this time.
